Shosoin Go Board

Go Board with Marquetry Decoration  
L 52.0 x W 51.9 x H 15.5cm 
The top plate is made of mulberry wood and lined with ivory. 
Having 19 lines and 9 stars, we can know this to be a go board. 
Stars are designed as flowers. Four sides of the board are partitioned 
with several kinds of marquetry work, and in each parted section, 
cut shells and tinted ivory pieces with line carved design of flowering 
plants and insects are pasted. This is included in the Shosoin Treasures 
of Todai-ji Temple.
